With the Huawei Nova 13i, Huawei is further solidifying its position in the fiercely competitive budget smartphone market. The goal of this phone is to provide a balance between price, style, and performance. We’ll examine its features in further detail, assess its functionality, and see how it compares to the competition in our review.

Display Type: IPS LCD

Screen Size: 6.7 inches

OS: EMUI 14.2

Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G

GPU: Adreno 610

RAM: 8GB

Storage: 128GB, 256GB

Camera: 108MP, 2MP

Sensors: Fingerprint, Accelerometer, Compass

Battery: Li-Po 5000mAh

The sleek and thoroughly modern design of the Huawei Nova 13i is impressive. It weighs 199 grams and measures 163.3 x 74.7 x 8.4 mm. It feels solid but manageable in the hand. White and blue are a refined color combination that appeals to consumers who value beauty.

Even though its style is appealing, some users would find the lack of waterproofing and dust resistance to be a disadvantage. Nonetheless, the fingerprint sensor that is positioned on the side is a useful addition that makes sure safe and simple unlocking.

With a refresh rate of 90Hz, the 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen produces vivid colors and fluid images. The display’s clear and detailed 1080 x 2388 pixels resolution and around 391 PPI density make it perfect for gaming, surfing, and watching videos. However, users must rely on third-party screen protectors for longevity because there is no dedicated screen protection available.

The Nova 13i easily manages daily duties; thanks to its octa-core CPU (4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.9 GHz Cortex-A53) and Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G (6nm) processor. It makes sure quick app performance and seamless multitasking when paired with 8GB of RAM.

Casual gaming is possible with the Adreno 610 GPU while graphically demanding games wouldn’t run well on high settings. For companies seeking to ensure their network technology is future-proof, the absence of 5G connection might be a deal breaker.

Although the lack of Google Play Services may put off consumers who are strongly dependent on Google apps, the EMUI 14.2 software offers a clear and useful user experience. Although Huawei’s AppGallery is expanding, it still doesn’t have Google’s extensive ecosystem.

With internal storage options more than enough, 128GB and 256GB, the Nova 13i provides room for apps, pictures, and videos. However, expandability is limited by the lack of a microSD card slot which may worry those who regularly save huge files.

A 108MP primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor are part of the dual-camera arrangement. Excellent color accuracy and detail are captured by the primary camera in well-lit environments.

Photography opportunities are further enhanced with the LED flash, HDR, and panorama functions. However, the absence of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) results in mediocre low-light performance.

However, it isn’t particularly noteworthy in comparison to competitors who offer higher-resolution front sensors, the 8MP front camera is sufficient for selfies and video calls. As is typical for this price range, both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.

The Nova 13i’s 5000mAh battery provides exceptional battery life, comfortably enduring a full day of intensive use. One major benefit is the 40W wired fast charging that ensures little downtime by charging the phone in just couple of minutes. However, customers used to these contemporary conveniences find their freedom limited by the absence of wireless and reverse charging capabilities.

Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and a variety of satellite navigations systems (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS) are among the Nova 13i’s key networking capabilities. Additionally, it is compatible with contactless payment systems because it supports NFC.

However, customers who prefer connected audio devices can perhaps find the lack of a 3.5mm headphone connector inconvenient. Additionally, in comparison to competitors’ speedier USB standards, the USB Type-C 2.0 connector feels a little antiquated.

Pros

  • A bright and fluid visual experience is provided by the 6.7-inch IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate.
  • The 40W rapid charging is a huge benefit and the 5000mAh battery promises all-day use.
  • For everyday uses, the Snapdragon 680 CPU with 8GB RAM ensures dependable performance.
  • It has a streamlined appearance and eye-catching color schemes.
  • In well-lit environments, the 108MP primary sensor produces sharp and detailed images.

Cons

  • No microSD card slot for extra storage means there is no expandable storage.
  • Low-light photography is impacted by the absence of OIS.

A good mid-range smartphone with outstanding design, display, and battery life is the Huawei Nova 13i. Despite several downsides such as the absence of 5G and Google Play Services, its performance and camera quality make it an appealing choice for anyone looking for a dependable daily gadget.

Nova 13i is an excellent value option for those that are able to adjust to Huawei’s environment and do not place a high priority on 5G connectivity. However, it would be worthwhile to look at alternative devices within the same price range if features like wireless charging, expandable storage, or a headphone port is crucial.
